japan has places like dog or cat cafes, where you can go and play with dogs or cats for a certain period of time for a price, usually with drinks attached.
the animals there are kinda like prostitutes or hosts/hostesses: customers pay to touch them, and there are even rankings on a board for the most popular animal. depending on how you want to refer to a cat, such cafes – some have “all you can touch” after a certain time” – can sound so wrong on so many levels.
anyhow, i know of 2 cat cafes and i’ve been wanting to visit them for the longest time. especially since one of them is just at the station closest to one of my schools, and that japanese stray cats are virtually untouchable as they run away the moment you attempt to get close! well, i finally got my chance today, when 2 of the other ALTs were at my school for a special event.
the cat cafe is really really peaceful, and the cats are sooooo tame. we speculate that some of them might be drugged as they’re sooo sedate, but that’s partly cos they had just been fed and were snoozing or napping away. no worries about that though – i was just happy to be able to be around and stroke some cats! check them out:
i dont like cats that look like this, but this cat had amazing fur. it felt like a very thick and luscious carpet! it has a styled tail too:

now, this above isnt a very well taken picture, but this was the biggest cat – it’s HUGE! and it had a wonderful tail. the cats in this cafe are in general HUGE and have awesome, awesome fur.
this above is another very long, beautiful kitty. i love all of them! i was sooo ecstatic for the first 10 minutes or so :D
