i just returned from a weekend trip to okayama and kurashiki, located halfway between osaka and hiroshima. i’ll post more about it later – it has to be by far my least trigger-happy trip – but just wanted to blog about my glass figurine collection.
in takayama last september, i acquired 3 pretty figurines (thank you! :)):
i initially only wanted the cow, cos it was really cute with a little red bow on its head and its kidney bean-shaped markings, but ended up getting 2 kitty-cat ones too because i had trouble making up my mind.
from that time, they’ve been sitting on my kitchen table watching me eat breakfast every morning.
and today, i added another 2 members to my collection – Momotaro and his peach.
Momotaro – literally “peach boy” – is the main character in a japanese fairytale. he was born out of a giant peach, and when grown, headed out to fight demons and made some friends along the way too. Okayama is said to be the setting of this fairytale. doesnt he look strong and determined, in a very cute way, with his japanese fan and headband? you can imagine him going “yossHA!” with that stance of his.
at the moment, he’s getting to know his new friends – the best way is for them to sit in a circle, with the giant peach in the centre, so that they could bite into it when hungry.
kawaii :)
