Ladurée - famous patisserie is now in Osaka!

i went into what was once Sogo in shinsaibashi the other day – it was taken over by daimaru last year cos it went bust – and came across this wonderful, wonderful sight:

Ladurée.

Ladurée is, in my very humble opinion, the best patisserie for macarons. i tried them for the first time several years ago when i was in paris – from their Champs-Élysées outlet no less – and have never tasted macarons anything like theirs.

i heard that pierre herme is another patisserie known for macarons, and had a chance to try their macarons when i was in tokyo last may. they were delicious, but werent as to my liking as Ladurée’s.

(picture from here)

and the thing about macarons in japan is that they’re phenomenally expensive, regardless of how famous the patisserie that made them is. many are tiny and cost about 180yen; the bigger ones around the size of those from Ladurée would be from 230 to 250yen. i think these were around or that price or a bit more expensive; it doesnt matter. i have to try them and i will pay to do so – all that needs to happen is for the queue to die down a bit.

Ladurée here i come!! :D
