replies and a complaint

i'm sooooooo super tired. my feet are aching rather badly though i havent been walking all that much actually, but today was a forcefully imposed rest day. was meant to go to nara, but it's physically impossible in the state that i'm in. sigh.

but anyhow, thanks for al the tags people! :) glad to hear from all of you!

my apartment is indeed big, but my predecessor squeezed 4 pple into the bedroom - ie, the kitchen had no one in there. i dont see how that's possible actually, unless he moved all the furniture from the bedroom into the kitchen, which doesnt make sense anyway cos that would mean that you wouldnt be able to move around in the kitchen at all! i'm not sure, but i'd say 4 guests at 1 time is just about the maximum. i could hold 5 people, but that would be stretching it quite a bit. heh.

my paul frank shirt is from thailand! and i only have it cos jac bought it but it was too small for her. haha. i've got the rest of the clothes and various items (like souvenirs, my japanese study material etc) that i shipped in my big box, and i have more of my bags with me too :) all i need now are some more shoes, cos my white pointy shoes from thailand are falling apart after a mere... 3 months! and they're so comfy too.. i've bought a couple more tops from here as well, and a pair of those shorts/pants that end at the knee? the nice tailored type.. couldnt stand the heat anymore, plus i need something i can cycle around in!

speaking of cycling, i had A LOT of exercise on my bike yesterday because we got lost.. urgh. we went around the same building 3 or 4 times (and they were big rounds), and it wouldnt have been that bad if not for the fact that going round that building meant going up a rather long and fairly steep slope!!

and now for the complaint. well, not a complaint, but i'm pretty annoyed at how every country insists on having the western way of filling in names on forms, where you go last name, first name and then middle name. dont they realise that not every culture writes names in that way? i mean, the japanese dont write their names in that format, and i really dont see why they should follow that format on forms. and the thing is, i get the impression that they're rather anally retentive when it comes to filling in forms, especially for official documents, and i had to re-fill in my details because they wanted my name as per my passport even though they indicated in the form to write 'last name' then 'first name' then 'middle name'. urgh.

ok i'm done with that little complaint. i just think it's really ridiculous that i'm feeling irritated about this in japan, because unlike back when i was on exchange in london, there aint no middle names in japan!!!!!!

oh. and it must be noted here that i dont think japan sells blutack! we've all been looking for it, but no one has succeeded in finding blutack so far.. how do they stick things on walls then?!
