one autumn day in kyoto

autumn is coming to an end.

this year, unlike the last, i only saw autumn leaves ONCE – and that was last week. we went to kyoto’s nanzenji in the afternoon. i realised, however, that there were a few places in nanzenji that we missed, as the place is apparently rather humongous.

first we entered one of the famous gardens on the temple grounds:

there was a pond with quite a few koi in it:

this is Sanmon, the huge gate that’s something like the entrance to nanzenji. we paid 500yen to go up – it offers a so-so view of kyoto – and felt quite cheated.

there were quite a lot of trees in the compound

i was quite amused by this:

we ventured further into the temple grounds..

everyone was crowding around this sole red-leaved tree:

the bridge lent the place an air of charm
