on fire drills and nothing in particular

my school had a fire drill the other day, and what struck me was how everyone in the school from the staff to the students knew exactly what time the siren was going to sound. that kinda defeats the point of a fire drill, isnt it?

the vice principal was somewhat on edge before the exercise though, and was pacing about the staff room counting down to the time the siren was going to go off, and checking with everyone if they knew what they were doing and where they were going to be, etc. of course, being an small school with few students who were prepared for this emergency drill, they made their way down to the assembly ground in no time at all.

i just made carbonara on a whim to use up leftover cream in my fridge, and oh man it’s so surprisingly easy and yummy! i’m definitely never going to buy pre-mix carbonara sauce ever again, unless it’s because i need to make something to eat soon and cant afford the time to head to the supermarket to get cream.

meanwhile, the weather is officially very hot. temperatures have gone above 30 degrees, and the humidity has arrived. it didnt help that it rained today either, so the air was wet and heavy, just like good old singapore. it’s gonna be hell for the next 3 months, so wish me luck.
