went to uji in kyoto last weekend at the recommendation of one of the japanese teacher's in my school. this place is famous for green tea and was really quite nice, primarily cos it had a nice big river at the heart of it which was nice to walk along, and was quite empty compared to the heart of kyoto, which is absolutely crazy. didnt take many pictures, but here are a few:
this temple is on the 10yen coin in japan, and it's really pretty gorgeous.. the other UNESCO world heritage sights in Uji are a tad disappointing though
some of the major temples in kyoto have night light-ups, and so we went to kyomizu-tera.. the crowd was insane, but it was gorgeous there :)
here, you can see the lights from people's cameras going off.. it was rather amusing a sight:
a blurry view of kyoto by night:
the other temple, koudaji, didnt have such a nice view, but it had a google map display which we didnt understand.. it was interesting nontheless to see a temple displaying google maps, even though we didnt see the point and purpose of it..
