greening projects

i've realised that im a sucker for plants, and have bought quite a few since coming here. i would have bought more, if not for the fear that my plants will all die in winter (and some did indeed die due to the cold).

discovered this 12-storey shopping mall at tennoji the other day while killing time, and saw some gorgeous plants for cheap!

this one cost me just 200yen:

the same shop also sold "bottle gardens", where you grow plants from very small bottles or creme brulee cups. i was tempted to buy one of those beautifully packaged ones in the creme brulee cups, but they cost a bit more and there werent any samples on display to prove that it the seeds can actually grow. so i got one of the bottled ones, and some of the seeds have sprouted!

they're chrysanthemum and are meant to bloom small flowers similar to those you see in fields in singapore, but i doubt that'll happen. i chose chrysanthemum in the hope that a miracle would occur though.

these 2 joined the really cute catus i saw at IKEA the previous weekend:

and all 3 have taken centre stage atop my microwave with my 2 other plants:

i might move the tall one somewhere else though, as it obviously doesnt match the 3 small fellas, but am not sure where i can put it yet.
