still ill in japan

so it's my 2nd day off from school, and when i called in this morning, my head of department asked if i'll take long to recover. haha. i certainly hope not! but im missing the farewell party for the year 3 students today, which a little sad cos i teach 2 classes worth of them.. things are rather slack for 3rd year high school students in japan as they only have 1 month of school in the final term, and only 3 weeks worth of lessons. plus the most important thing for them to enter university is the university entrance exams, so once they've cleared that, they only have to ensure that they have sufficient attendance and stay out of trouble in high school for them to graduate and go to university. they didnt have any heart to study since last term!

im feeling quite a bit better today, and, having just spent close to 10 hours in bed, am rather awake and hence bored :P the doc suspects i have influenza, but just dont have enough of the virus to exhibit the full blown symptoms. i learned yesterday that he'd spent 15 years in america! which explains his accent.. he also prescribed me 葛根汤 to warm me up cos i complained that i felt cold (yesterday was actually a very warm day), which is really interesting cos ordinary GPs prescribe both chinese medicine and western medicine, unlike in singapore. chinese medicine here is prescribed like western medicine though, in that they come in pills or tablets, and have clearly written dosages, side effects, etc. this makes things so much easier, and makes me wonder why singapore doesnt adopt this system too..
