the first is that I'll be travelling from Tokyo to Osaka via shinkansen! yay! just 3 days into my Japan stay and I'll already be able to experience one of the (perceived) icons of Japan :)
and the second is that i apparently cant send liquids overseas via airmail! wtfh? if DHL has this kind of stupid policies too, then how do people send liquids globally fast? the person at the post office told me this, but i'm going to call up the SingPost hotline as well as the DHL one to check. it really doesnt make sense to have such a ruling, as it's not like you're going to be there on the cargo plane to blow it up right? if we can put liquids in our checked luggage, i dont see why we cant put them into a large box in a cargo plane :P

anyway, i was informed that osaka isnt that much a place for sightseeing, but has lots of food to eat everywhere. goodness. i knew all along that osaka has lots of food, but i really didn't think that there'll be THAT much. if the person wasnt exaggerating, you're gonna see a super fat me when i return from japan :( 4 months of exchange was enough to do a lot of damage!!
also, Umeda and Namba are apparently able to suck my money dry, and i live quite near those areas from what everyone has told me. looks like i will need enormous self-control and an extremely tight grip on my purse strings. and remember, we're talking about Japan, the country that has LOTS of little attractive knick-nacks and thing-a-lings that are perfectly capable of making you spend a bomb before you even realise it.. :S
